How to Apply as a Transfer Student
We understand that the transfer process can feel overwhelming, so we’ve made it as easy as possible. Follow these simple steps to get started:
- Complete your free application
Indiana Tech’s application is quick, simple and free to submit. - Submit any transcripts from previous colleges
We can start the evaluation process with unofficial transcripts. You will have an additional 6 weeks to have your official transcripts sent to cps@indianatech.edu. - Submit any professional licenses or certifications
- We will evaluate any license or certification to see if you can earn additional credit.

Understanding transfer credit at Indiana Tech
We know how important it is to maximize the credits you’ve already earned. Our transfer credit evaluation process ensures you get the most out of your previous coursework to keep you on track toward your degree.
How transfer credit evaluation works
As a transfer student, you’ll work closely with your admissions representative to determine how your previously earned credits apply to your chosen program at Indiana Tech. Here’s how the process works:
- Submit All College Transcripts—Once we receive official transcripts from every college or university you’ve attended, we can begin the evaluation.
- Quick Admission Decision—An admission decision is typically made within one week of submitting your application and transcripts. You’ll receive an email with your decision.
- Transfer Credit Processing—Once submitted to the registrar’s office, your transfer credit evaluation should be completed within 72 hours, and you’ll receive an email with your results from your admissions counselor.

Financial aid and scholarships for transfer students
Indiana Tech offers a quality education at an affordable cost. Many students choose to apply for financial aid to help with these costs. Our financial aid office will provide you with all of the tools you need to make an informed decision regarding funding options for your education.
Transfer scholarships
Merit Scholarship for Community College Graduates: Students may be eligible for the Merit Scholarship, which is open to all community college graduates who have completed an associate degree with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. The merit scholarship is applied towards undergraduate tuition at Indiana Tech.
Understanding FAFSA and financial aid
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is important to utilize federal, state, and institutional financial aid, including grants and loans. You can begin your FAFSA application as early as October of the year before you plan to attend. Please make sure you have your FAFSA submitted before your specific state deadline.
Financial aid generally falls into two categories: gifts or self-help.
- Gifts are scholarships and grants given to you, which you do not need to repay. These may come from federal funds, state funds, Indiana Tech, or private sources.
- Self-help includes loans through the Federal Direct Student Loan program as well as private lenders.
The first step in applying for financial aid is completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. When you apply for aid, please remember to include Indiana Tech as a college choice by using our OE code number, 001805.
